In baseball parlance, "shagging fly balls" refers to catching fly balls in practice. Which is why, during the All Star Game, commentator Rick Sutcliffe mentioned that earlier in the season star pitcher Mariano Rivera "blew out his knee shagging." Unfortunately he forgot that he is working on the international broadcast of the game. So now any baseball fans in Britain think Sutcliffe has quite a potty mouth, but have a strange respect for Rivera.
